I can’t help but fall in love

I was never a dog person. I was always surrounded by cats. My family had a cat that was given to us. She never held my interest, we just existed in the same space. We had her for quite a long time, but even after all those times, she did not change me into a cat person.

Dogs was the same way for me. I see them all the time but I never thought to get one. It never crossed my mind. I simply thought I wasn’t an animal person. That is until Jose one day Jose decided to get one. We came to an agreement. I was OK with it, as long as it doesn’t eat my papers or chew anything of mine that are precious to me. So he went out and got one. She was cute, I can’t deny that. But it was not love at first sight.

We named her Cookie because she looked so damned edible. Joking, joking, she was name after one of my favourite dessert because of her colour. She annoyed the hell outta me. She wouldn’t stop crying at night. She’ll pee and poop everywhere and to top it off, she ate my favourite heel. Not the one I wanted to get rid off, there were quite a few of those, but the comfortable, super high, and super expensive heel; my favourite one.

From that day on, I was determined to train her properly (Jose did a terrible job. Everything she does is cute to him!) So of course, I went to the library, searched the internet, and gobbled up all the info related to dog training. Once I started training her, I couldnt help but notice her little quirks. The way she’ll cock her head to the side, the way she’ll lay flat on her stomach with her two front paw flat underneath her face when she wants something. The way she follows me everywhere and wait for me, even falling asleep in front of my closed door. I didn’t realize it, but at some point in time, I fell in love. How can I not when she greets me so enthusiastically every time I enter the apartment?
